WubDaWeb began more or less accidentally. Friends and family who found themselves in need of a new or updated web presence kept asking their favorite “techies” (us, that is) to build them web sites, help them understand and utilize social media and e-commerce, and things of that sort.
Then people we didn’t know started offering us money to do it, and we realized we’d accidentally created a business.
We’re still following the idea we started out with- that is, we’re here to empower people to improve their business and personal lives with technology. Practically speaking, that means we’re going to build you a great site, help you figure out if you should care about Twitter, Facebook, or Twitface*, and show you how to use them. We’ll also teach you how to maintain your site yourself if you want (otherwise we’ll be glad to do that for a monthly fee).
We love talking (Writing) about stuff that is important to us. More importantly we love sharing that information with you the consumer so you know what to expect when embarking on a web design project, whether with us or with some other highfalooten designer.
One thing we’re going to make sure of is that you remain in control of your web destiny- you’re going to have all the log-ons, passwords etc (if you ever meet a web designer who won’t give you that stuff, run the other direction). We’re also going to build your site to be maintainable by any competent web designer, not just us, because hey, maybe you want your kid to start doing it to earn that allowance or you want to take it over because you’ve learned how.
We generally do design based on WordPress, a very popular, maintainable, and incredibly powerful Content Management System (CMS)- a fancy way to say you will be able to do stuff on your site from day to day without needing to know how to write web code.
*Twitface is not real, although it probably should be.
